Case Study: A Natural Gas Marketer expanding it's
EDI nominations process

 OPPORTUNITY
A natural gas marketer wanted to expand it's gas nominations quickly and stay in sync with current GISB/NAESB standards.

 HISTORY
The client had EDI connections with 4 major pipelines via an in house managed software solution that was no longer supported and could not advance to meet GISB 1.5 or NAESB 1.6 standards.

 SOLUTION
EC Power's expertise in the natural gas industry and GISB/NAESB standards allowed the marketer to add new pipelines to their active roster while still supporting existing trading partners and pipelines that were running older versions of the EDI nominations.

 BENEFIT
EC Power's expertise in the natural gas industry and GISB/NAESB standards allowed the client to convert the existing 4 pipelines to the latest standards and add 6 new pipelines to their active roster while still supporting pipelines that were running older versions of the EDI nominations. The conversion of existing pipelines and implementation of the 6 new pipelines were done at the clients convenience. They currently have 3 pipelines in a test state with production slated for early 2004.

The average time for EC-Power to setup a new pipeline and test communications is 6 hours. After that the client drives the testing at their own pace. Production cutover is approximately 3 - 4 hours to complete the setup and communications tests.

EC Power maintains an ASP environment that supports GISB EDM 1.3 through 1.5 and NAESB EDM 1.6 with SSL, as well as the nomination documents for GISB 1.4 through 1.6.
