ERCOT Liaison
The ERCOT governance model includes a hierarchy of subcommittees and working groups to support the continuous changing needs of electricity deregulation from both a wholesale and retail perspective. EC Power is actively involved in many of these working groups. In addition to filling the lead role as Chair and Vice-Chair in specific working groups on the Texas retail side, EC Power's team also includes a former ERCOT employee whose 5 years experience at ERCOT included a market-facing role that required active participation in retail working groups, specifically the Texas SET Working Group that maintains the X12 EDI Standards for the ERCOT Retail Electric Market.
To EC Power, active participation in ERCOT working groups includes keeping the Client abreast of potential market changes, monitoring the working group topics for any changes that could impact a Client's business, assisting the Client in providing comments to proposed regulatory changes, communicating applicable ERCOT notifications, and providing guidance on the ERCOT governance model as it relates to the Client. EC Power also maintains involvement to ensure our systems and processes are continuously in compliance with ERCOT and active Market Participants. Meeting the business objectives of the various companies' interests can be a long process, and the benefits not always evident immediately, however lack of participation in these working groups results in outdated business solutions that can lead to negative impacts to a Client's business.
EC Power currently assists standard setting efforts in the following organizations:
North American Energy Standards Board (NAESB)
Retail Electric Quadrant Board member
Retail Electric Quadrant Executive Committee Member
Technical Electronic Implementation Subcommittee - co-Chair
Business Process Subcommittee
ERCOT Committees:
Retail Market Subcommittee
Texas SET Working Group
Texas Test Plan Team - previous Chair position
Texas Data Transport Working Group - current Vice Chair position
Mass Transition Task Force
Terms & Conditions Task Force
