March 2006EC Power Receives the NAESB Certification for EDI/EDM Versions 1.4 to 1.7
HOUSTON -(BUSINESS WIRE)- EC Power, with a long track record of processing natural gas nominations for the U.S. wholesale natural gas markets, announces its certifications with the North American Energy Standards Board (NAESB) for versions 1.4, 1.5, 1.6 and 1.7 standards. The certification guarantees that EC Power is in compliance with standards for both Electronic Data Interchange (EDI) transactions and Electronic Delivery Mechanism (EDM).
NAESB serves as an industry forum in all four electric quadrants; retail gas, retail electric, wholesale gas, and wholesale electric. For the wholesale gas quadrant, NAESB establishes standards and protocols for the transmission of pipeline reservation transactions between domestic pipelines and their trading partners. The natural gas industry has benefited from the work of NAESB and its precursor, Gas Industry Standards Board (GISB), since 1995. These governing bodies have helped provide the seamless marketplace for wholesale and retail natural gas and electricity, as recognized by its customers, business community, participants and regulatory entities.
The NAESB Certification Program enables companies requesting certification to determine whether their software product or software solution meet specific criteria defined in NAESB standards. Similarly, companies buying the software services, solutions or products use the NAESB certification as part of their purchasing decision process.
"The self certification is a great step forward for the energy industry", states Jesse Cline, EC Power's Sr. Business Solutions Analyst. "It provides another means for market participants to verify their procedures & processes meet the current standard for the energy industry. It also provides prospective customers a criteria to consider when shopping for a business solution. EC Power & it's staff are committed to the development and implementation of standards for the U.S. energy industry."
