June 2002EC Power Unveils New ecTRAC™ Solution for the Texas Deregulated Electric Power Market
EC Power, Inc., the leading independent electronic Transaction Service Provider (TSP) for the State of Texas, today announced a new transaction tracking tool designed for the deregulated electric power market in Texas.
ecTRAC™ enables Competitive Retailers to view and monitor the status of their transactions to and from the Energy Reliability Council of Texas (ERCOT). This is provided over the Internet via EC Power's website, and works in conjunction with EC Power's transaction service hub. With this service, a Texas Retailer can "ship" all its transactions electronically through EC Power, and track their status by ESI ID.
"The use of our new ecTRAC™ services can greatly assist a Competitive Retailer participating in the deregulated Texas market in analyzing incomplete transactions," said Hank Rush, Chairman of EC Power. "The timely processing of customer's transactions for service orders and billing information is of utmost importance to all retailers, and this tool provides tracking information in a timely manner and with reduced manual effort for the retailer", continued Rush.
Since the opening of the Texas retail power market on January 1, 2002, EC Power has processed monthly transactions for 1 million Texas retail customers; averaging 4 million secure transactions per month. This retail customer volume represents an approximate 20% market share of the 5 million retail customer's included in the Texas electric power industry deregulation at this time. EC Power moves transactions electronically for a growing number of competitive retailers in Texas. These market retailers are required to interface electronically with the Energy Reliability Council of Texas (ERCOT), for all customer enrollments, switching, and billing transactions. Additionally, EC Power is prepared to assist Cooperatives and Municipal entrants into the Texas marketplace in 2003.
EC Power works with a new or existing retailer to obtain ERCOT certification for transaction movement. EC Power's services interface with the Retailer's customer information system (CIS) to pick up and handle the outbound, and to return inbound transactions from the Texas market participants trading partners. "EC Power has certified over a dozen competitive retailers in the Texas market using our proven methodology, and processes. Because the transaction data processing is absolutely critical to our clients being able to operate successfully, we view each client as a partner and provide both personal service and web-based tools to help insure our clients' success. We work with the clients daily to resolve and address market issues", states Jennifer Teel, Director of eBusiness Solutions for EC Power.
