October 2002 Just Energy Selects EC Power as it Enters the Texas Deregulated Power Market EC Power, the largest volume independent electronic Transaction Service Provider (TSP) for the State of Texas' deregulated power market, today announced its selection by Just Energy, a new entrant into the deregulated electric power market in Texas. Just Energy, headquartered in Houston, Texas, selected EC Power to manage and process its electronic transactions with the Electric Reliability Council of Texas, known as ERCOT, and will go into production on October 9. 2002, after being certified by EC Power in the current Texas market flight. Just Energy focuses on the small and medium sized business sector in Texas. "EC Power is pleased to welcome Just Energy as a new competitive retailer into the Texas market," says J. R. Since the opening of the Texas retail power market on January 1, 2002, EC Power has processed monthly transactions for over 1 million Texas deregulated power customers, or 3-4 million transactions per month. As such, EC Power is the largest independent service provider in the State. With EC Power's services, a Texas competitive retailer can meet the requirements of ERCOT to electronically "ship" all its transactions within the ERCOT network, in a secure and well managed manner. EC Power delivers the required electronic "packages" to their intended recipients, and provides web-based tools for tracking those packages during their journey. EC Power works with a new or existing Texas Retailer to obtain ERCOT certification for transaction movement. The services interface with the competitive retailer's customer information system (CIS) to pick up and handle the outbound and return inbound transactions from the ERCOT network of providers.
